Where to find the model number on any appliance
The model and serial number sticker is how a technician identifies the exact replacement part. It's usually small, sometimes hidden, and almost always in the same spot for a given appliance. Here's where to look.
By appliance type
Hover-friendly summary of the same data our triage tool uses.
Refrigerator
Inside on the left wall near the crisper drawers, or behind the kick-plate at the bottom.
Washer
Inside the door frame (top-loader: under lid; front-loader: rim around the door).
Dryer
Inside the door opening, on the door itself, or behind the lint trap door.
Dishwasher
Inside the door edge or along the tub rim when door is open.
Oven / Range
On the frame behind/under the storage drawer, or behind the door when open.
Microwave
Inside the door frame, or on the back of the unit.
Freezer
Inside the lid/door, or on the side panel near the compressor.
Garbage Disposal
On the underside of the unit, visible from below the sink.
By brand
Sticker style and model-number conventions for the brands we service most.
Whirlpool / Maytag / KitchenAid
Look for a white sticker with a small barcode — model starts with letters like WTW, MVW, KDTM. Often on the door jamb or inside the kick-plate.
GE / GE Profile / Café
Silver foil sticker, model usually starts with G (GTW, GFE, PYE). On washers/dryers it's under the lid or behind the door; on fridges it's on the left interior wall.
Samsung
Glossy white label, model starts with letters then numbers (WF45T, RF28, DV45). Often on the door frame, the back of the unit, or behind the kick-plate.
LG
Sticker says 'Model No.' clearly; numbers start with letters like WM, DLE, LRFXS. Door jamb on washers/dryers, left inner wall on fridges.
Bosch / Thermador
Small silver plate on the side of the door (dishwashers) or behind the kick-plate. Model starts with SHE, SHX, SHP.
Frigidaire / Electrolux
White sticker on door frame or behind the crisper drawer. Model usually starts with FF, FG, or LF.
Tips for a usable photo
- Wipe the sticker first — grease and dust make characters unreadable.
- Use your phone's flashlight at an angle, not straight on, to kill glare.
- Get close enough that the model number fills the frame. Don't zoom — move the camera.
- Snap two: one of the sticker, one zoomed-out so we can see which appliance it came from.
